Can it be a coincidence that there has been a rise in the increase of obesity, IBS, allergies, auto-immune issues, cancer and mental-health issues since our diet included more highly-processed food, to such an extent as these are widely regarded as “Western” diseases? It makes sense that what we put into our bodies has a huge impact on our wellbeing.
Modern intensive farming methods means that much of our food has been subjected to chemicals and artificial fertilisers. This has a detrimental impact on the minerals and vitamins that naturally occur in plant-based food, which is required by our bodies. On top of that our food is now more processed than ever, most of which is manufactured by a handful of major food corporations. In order to improve shelf-life, fibre is often stripped from food and preservatives are added. Sugar and salt are common added ingredients to improve taste. The next time you are in a supermarket, take the time to look at the ingredients of processed food and see how many items are listed that you don’t recognise.

Apart from artificial ingredients and preservatives there are a number of food types that tend to cause more health issues than others. These are predominantly: Wheat, Sugar, Milk and Table Salt. In Kinesiology, we regard these as the “main offenders”; the primary ingredients of an average breakfast cereal.
Kinesiology offers a technique that allows us to determine whether you have any sensitivities to these, or any other foods. You may not be aware if your body is sensitive to wheat, for example, especially if you don’t have the typical symptoms of gluten-intolerance. With Kinesiology we can test this. If the testing reveals that you are sensitive to certain foods then you will be advised to refrain from eating it, for a period. This needn’t be a permanent thing as, once the offending item has been removed from the diet, the gut can heal and the body can recover. You may then be able to re-introduce that food, back into your diet in moderation.
In my case, I was surprised to learn that I was sensitive to wheat. Once I eliminated it from my diet, my digestion improved and I even lost a little weight as an added bonus. Kinesiology testing now indicates that I can enjoy wheat in moderate amounts – don’t ever come between me and my Friday morning croissant!
